Rahmi’s place in the bottom was due to construction issues, but the color story and passion of his design made out of kites was on full display which the judges recognized. Laurence made a hooded dress which showed promise in the hood and then just became shift like garment. Mila had a half done skirt with jumbo puzzle pieces and a unicorn stuffing top.
Their designs were muddled and unfinished. Both Mila and Laurence had the same issue. In the Bottom 3 were Mila Hermanovski, Rahmi Kashou, Laurence Basse. He also won a Singer suite of design instruments. Ultimately, the winner of the unconventional materials challenge was Victor, who brought a smile to all of the judges’ faces. Prajje’s design channeled streetwear with expertly tailored pants made out of toy pianos, Kayne’s went from a Fairy Godmother cape to a Cruella de Vil-esque fitted dress complete with pandas bleeding from the eyes, Brittany made a skirt Barbie would adore with a teacup bodice, and Viktor made a chic jacket with dinosaur shoulders and a lovely yellow design constructed from boomerangs. The Top 4 were Prajje, Johnathan Kayne Gillaspie, Brittany Allen, and Viktor Luna. Stacey Bendet, the founder, CEO, and creative director of Alice + Olivia joined the judges to critique the designs the contestants created. Prajje’s design is still haunting him as it’s what he had to improve on in the first challenge and it’s what he had to improve on this one, too, as that design was for season 19’s unconventional materials challenge. Last challenge was the designers opportunity to redeem themselves from the looks that either sent them home or nearly did. Prajje Oscar Jean Baptiste was determined to prove himself. He warned them that neither he nor the judges wanted to see outfits go down the runway that were made from fabric like material in order to skirt the essence of the challenge. This truly is an All Stars season because week 2 of the competition threw the designers head first into the highly stressful, but iconic unconventional materials challenge.Ĭhristian Siriano brought the designers to FAO Schwarz, the famed toy story in the Big Apple, so that they could gather what they needed to make a whimsical look meant to stretch their creative abilities.
